You may have seen them around the District: blue numbers on a bright yellow "post". Their purpose is to allow us to find your address more quickly during an emergency.

Do they help? You bet! Since the District undertook this project in June 1998, we have installed over 3,500 signs and they have made a huge difference. Responding crew members continue to report the signs are a tremendous help in finding the correct address in a hurry.
