FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT 5 MASON COUNTY
Chairperson Griffey called the meeting of August 25, 2004 to order at 10:00 A.M. Commissioner Taylor and Chief Knight was present.
The minutes of the meeting of August 11 2004 were read. MOTION MADE BY TAYLOR AND SECONDED BY GRIFFEY TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AS READ. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Correspondence: We received a notice from the Washington Fire Commissioners Association regarding the annual conference October 21-24 in Seattle.
Assistant Chief Tim McKern read from an activity report dated August 25, 2004.
GENERAL INFORMATION: Marianne Dougherty, wife of former Fire Commissioner Bill Dougherty, passed away August 21. A memorial service is planned for her on August 26 in Shelton at noon.
Business for Consideration: Chief Knight presented information to consider a request to the voters for a 4-year levy. A resolution will be needed for the next board meeting in order to have the issue on the November 2004 ballot. Discussion included the cost of election, refinancing existing bonds and tender fleet replacement. Chief Knight will have Clark Snure prepare a resolution for the next regular meeting.
The vouchers were reviewed. MOTION MADE BY TAYLOR AND SECONDED BY GRIFFEY TO APPROVE FOR PAYMENT VOUCHERS #20341 THROUGH AND INCLUDING #20344 TOTALING $172,923.05 FOR AUGUST PAYROLL. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. MOTION MADE BY TAYLOR AND SECONDED BY GRIFFEY TO APPROVE FOR PAYMENT VOUCHERS #20345 THROUGH AND INCLUDING #20360 TOTALING $5,232.39. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Public Suggestions and Comments: Firefighter/EMT Dan Eldridge went to Colville for State Mobilization and gave a brief report on fire activity while he was there.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:20 A.M. until the next regular meeting scheduled for September 8, 2004.
