FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT 5 MASON COUNTY
Chairperson Griffey called the meeting of June 23, 2004 to order at 10:12 A.M. Commissioners Taylor and Hauser and Chief Knight were present.
Prior to opening the meeting Assistant Chief Mike Snyder was honored as Mike is officially retired. Mike has been an Assistant Chief since 1988. His hard work and dedication is appreciated and he will be missed by all.
The minutes of the meeting of June 11 2004 were read. MOTION MADE BY TAYLOR AND SECONDED BY HAUSER TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AS READ. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Activity Report: Assistant Chief Mike Snyder read from an activity report dated June 21, 2004.
General Information: Chief Knight handed out copies of a report on the impact of I-864. If I-864 passes the impact of lost revenue to Fire District 5 could be up to 18%. Chief noted that the Benefit Charge is exempt from I-864. A discussion followed.
Business for Consideration: Proposed Draft Policy 2448 was discussed. Clark Snure made recommendations for some changes. The changes are in the new proposed draft. Commissioner Taylor is concerned in maintaining a balance between the employee and the employer right and privileges. A lengthy discussion followed. Chief Knight will conduct further research to obtain answers to some questions.
Chief Knight handed out copies of update, proposed and preliminary Mutual Aid Agreement with the City of Shelton. We expect to have a signed copy soon.
Public Suggestions: Mr. Brokaw asked about voucher #20222. The voucher is payment to the Mason County Fire Chief’s Association for Recruit Class Student fees.
Commissioner Taylor asked if the district has used the Washington Government Entity Pool for insurance for the district. Chief Knight will ask our broker to research premiums for next year.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:50 A.M. until the next meeting scheduled for July 14, 2004.
