FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT 5 MASON COUNTY
Chairperson Griffey called the meeting of May 26, 2004 to order at 10:00 A.M. Commissioner Hauser and Chief Knight was present. Commissioner Taylor was excused.
The minutes of the meeting of May 12, 2004 were read. MOTION MADE BY HAUSER AND SECONDED BY GRIFFEY TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AS READ. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Activity Report: Assistant Chief Snyder read from an activity report dated May 26, 2004.
General Information: The 20-acre parcel is listed for sale through Windemere Realty for $159,900.
Guests from Paradise Association were present. George Young spoke about the Associations concern over recreational fires in their Community and about fireworks. Chief Knight advised that the Mason County Fire Chief’s Association would be discussing this issue along with the Mason County Fire Marshall at an upcoming meeting. A lengthy discussion followed regarding recreational burn piles, fireworks and the Associations concerns over rental property in their area. Chairperson Griffey said we would do what we can to assist the Association in obtaining answers and assistance to their concerns.
The vouchers were reviewed. MOTION MADE BY HAUSER AND SECONDED BY GRIFFEY TO APPROVE FOR PAYMENT VOUCHERS #20145 THROUGH AND INCLUDING #20146 TOTALING $136,237.08 FOR MAY PAYROLL. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
MOTION MADE BY HAUSER AND SECONDED BY GRIFFEY TO APPROVE FOR PAYMENT VOUCHERS # 20147 THROUGH AND INCLUDING # 20170 TOTALING $204,821.94 FOR OPERATIONS. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Chief Knight advised he would not be able to attend the Board meeting on June 9. He reminded the board that Assistant Chief Mike Snyder's retirement party is scheduled for July 11 at the Allyn Waterfront Park.
Public Suggestions and Comments: Mr. Brokaw asked about the voucher to Sea Western for $196,000. He was advised it's for the SCBA unit that was purchased with FEMA grants funds.
The meeting was temporarily suspended at 10:33 A.M. to call for an executive session to discuss IAFF negotiations. The meeting adjourned at 10:43 A.M. with no action taken.
Commissioner Hauser advised he would be unable to attend the June 9 board meeting.
The regular meeting reconvened and adjourned at 10:43 A.M. until the next regular meeting scheduled for June 9, 2004 at 10:00 A.M.
